What Feng Shui Teaches Us About Letting Go
I chose this breathtaking Gingko tree from a quiet morning walk through Central Park as this month’s image. These golden leaves remind me of heart-petals—fierce flames shimmering in the morning mist—each one whispering stories of courage, pain, loss, and hope.
Gingko, one of the oldest living tree species on Earth, holds memory in its very DNA; no wonder it stands as a gentle witness to our own cycles of holding on and letting go.
Does it Matter HOW we Grieve?
When grief remains unresolved or stagnant, it doesn’t just live inside of us—it settles into our surroundings as well.
In Feng Shui, fresh Qi flow is essential for your life to flow well, for clarity to return, and for opportunities to unfold.
When we’re grieving, it’s natural for the flow of energy within us to slow down, and our homes often reflect that shift. Spaces can feel somber, closed, or emotionally muted, even when nothing has changed physically.
It’s not the home “failing” us—it’s simply mirroring the emotional weight we’re carrying.
The Home As Your Spiritual Ally
And yet, even during difficult times, our home remains our quiet spiritual ally. A supportive space holds us when we are hurting, steadies us when we are overwhelmed, and uplifts us when we’re ready to rise again.
When we set up our home with Feng Shui principles in mind, its energy becomes more responsive to our emotional needs, supporting us gently through different life circumstances.
During times of grief, our home naturally absorbs some of the emotional heaviness we’re carrying. As we tend to our hearts and begin to release what has been held for too long, the space also benefits from being refreshed.
Resetting and revitalizing the Qi flow with a Space Clearing Ceremony helps restore the integrity of the home, allowing it to feel warm, open, and supportive again as we move into a new chapter.
The Chameleon Nature of a Supportive Home
The “chameleon nature” of our home comes from the symbiotic relationship between our inner world and our environment. Both need gentle, ongoing care so they can support one another.
When we see grief as hygiene for the Soul and we consciously release stagnant emotions within ourselves, our energy shifts—and our home responds. A well-maintained, energetically aligned space reflects that clarity back to us, creating a virtuous cycle of harmony and flow.
An inner space-clearing brings deep peace and makes room for new beginnings—echoing outward into the spaces we live in and inviting balance and harmony back into our lives.
A Resource for Emotional Seasons
This month, I created a free downloadable resource for anyone experiencing lingering emotions, seasonal sadness, or the loss of a loved one.
Inside, you’ll find:
1) Four gentle ways to support your heart
2) The Gingko Heart-Petal Ritual, I am sure you will love its grounding nature
3) A curated book list for those who find solace in reading that brings comfort and perspective.
A personal favorite of mine is “The Wild Edge of Sorrow” by Francis Weller.
My hope is that these tools offer you ease and help create space for new beginnings—both within yourself and in the home that holds you.
If you feel called to reset your inner space, you’re welcome to download the guide here.
With love, from someone who has walked this landscape too. I see your tender heart, and I’m honoring your courage every step of the way.
